初タイツコラボレーションがついに公開しました！！！スタッズ付き（！！）歯ごたえのあるスイートさ「甘党〜Sweet teeth」をCheck!! Check!!

There’s a reason I didn’t decide to work as a cotemporary artist, and that’s because it’s TOO free. I wouldn’t know where to start. With fashion, at least one is limited to the human body, and pliable materials. There is a goal: to make the wearer feel something.

This was my approach when I was asked to participate as a collaborator for TOKONE‘s line of artist tights. I happen to wear tights or leggings 350 days of the year, so I was STOKED to try this out! But then I was presented with the problem laid out above: there was no limit to what I could do. Where do I start?! I was presented with so many options, colors, decorations,…my mind was spinning. Much to say, I was probably a month late submitting my design. I remember being in Paris at the end of fashion week, 4am, no sleep for the entire week, working on Illustrator….I figured whatever came out of that half-dead dreamscape was probably what I was meant to do… voila!

そんなことを考えている時、タイツブランドのTOKONEからアーティストコラボ企画で参加しないかと話が持ちかけられた。聞くところによると、常日頃からタイツを欠かさず履いている私のことをずっと観察していたとのこと。そして提示されたのが、アーティストとしてタイツを使って自由に表現して欲しいとの要望。ここへきて、冒頭の質問。素材、デザイン、カラー、選択肢が多過ぎて、どこから手を付けていいのか分からない！アイデアが無いわけではない。というか、やりたいことが沢山あり過ぎて困っていたのだが、そうこう考えているうちに、締め切りを一ヶ月ほど過ぎてようやくデザインを提出したのでした(Ooops!)ちょうどパリコレ期間中だったこともあり、あまりの多忙さに半ばトリップしかけの頭で考えだしたデザインが、こちら！

There’s pinwheels, drips, art nouveau….on the feet are dollops of whipped cream and the toosh has giant gemstones on them. Much better than rhinestones!

It’s a bit mode, a bit sweet, a bit pop and a bit gothic… and the best part?? IT’S GOT STUDS!!! 20 of them! I insisted on this kind, which means they have to be added on by hand, which means they are slightly pricey at 6,800 yen. (and the rhinestones and circles in the photo will actually be all rivet studs). But to be honest, I see most brand’s printed tights priced at 4,900 and up, and since these have studs I don’t think they’re too bad. Plus, the quality is very, very good— of course, they are made here in Tokyo, too. Order details are here (Japanese).
