From houndstooth mafia to plaid mafia in the forest. Tommy Hilfiger AW 2014 トミーヒルフィガーのザ・アメリカンガールは都会的な山ガールに！

Tommy’s all-American girl went from the beach to the deep forest this season, so I strapped on my own boots (thigh-high PVC natch) and hiked uptown to see the Tommy Hilfiger fall/winter collection- what they do best. Who would have thunk I would be transported all the way back home to a campground in Seattle…!

今季、Tommyが提案するザ・アメリカンガールはビーチから森林へと秋冬らしいシチュエーションに合わせてイメージを開催されていた。私がSOHOからアッパーイーストサイドへ2014AWショーを見に行くような大移動！w お気に入りのサイハイブーツを足に巻きつけ、アップタウンまでTommy Hilfigerの秋冬コレクションを見に行った。ちなみに、秋冬は彼らの得意分野だkら期待してた。だけど驚くことに、会場へ着けばそこはまるでシアトルのキャンプ場に逆戻りって感じだった。

ハウンズトゥースマフィアがタータンマフィアに！

I was dressed in the brilliant AW 2014 houndstooth collection, paired with a Hugo Boss scarf and baroque PVC Mame bag. It’s still a bit too cold out to wear the spring collections so the venue was awash in houndstooth like it was going extinct. I was invited backstage where I got a peek of the makeup team, headed up by the industry’s best artist Pat McGrath, and some of the clothes which looked to bringing back tartan plaid in a colorful iteration. 

当日は、Tommy Hilfiger 2014 AWの千鳥格子コレクションの服に身を包み、Hugo Bossのスカーフを首に巻き付け、PVC製のmame バッグを片手に会場へ向かった。まだSSコレクションのものを着るには少し寒いから、会場には秋冬の千鳥格子コレクションを着てる人だらけ。バックステージに招待されて、Pat McGrathを始めとする有能なメイクアップチームの仕事場を覗かせてもらったし、いくつかの洋服でカラフルなタータンチェックがトレンドとして復活しているのも見ることが出来た。

The set showed us what we needed to know; we were going into the mountains and we were not going to be compromising on style. This is much better for me, because anyone who has talked to me for more than 5 minutes would guess that I am more of a mountain girl than say, a pool girl or supermarket girl. City or mountain, please.

There were tons of plaid in comfy wool-cashmere and mohair, layered under alpaca bombers, shearling and red velvet. There were dresses that looked like they may have been made out of my most cherished warm cabin blankets from my childhood too. That, coupled with the outdoor goods and western-style accents and by God it took me back to my homestate of Washington. Learning to pitch a tent is a right of passage there and we have forests and mountains there too and they look like this:

セットそのものが、私たちがふまえておくべき全ての知識を事前に教えてくれた。山へ行くこと、そしてその時のスタイルに妥協を許さないこと。私にとってこれはとても好都合。だって、私と5分も話せばわかるけど、私はプールやスーパーマーケットなんかじゃなくてどちらかというと山ガールだからね。都会か山、この二択でお願いしまーす。

数々のチェックが着心地のいいカシミアやモヘアにあしらわれ、ボンバーや羊の毛、または赤いビロードの下に重ね着されているのを見た。私が子供のころに大好きだったあったかいブランケットから作られたようなドレスもあったわ。それを、アウトドアグッズやウェスタンスタイルのアクセントと組み合わせていたものだから、私の故郷・ワシントンを思い出さざるを得なかった。テントを張ることが一人前になるための通過儀礼みたいなところで、森や山というような自然が豊かなところでもあるの。こんな感じ！: 

The show even ended with a song by The Smashing Pumpkins, the eponymous 90s grunge band.
Most of us may be stuck in the cities, but it’s a rugged landscape out there and this may be what we need to traverse the cement terrain. I’m in the city now too, but I’m an American girl at heart and I have my eye on all the plaid and workwear that define my home.

しかもなんと、ショーの最後にかけられた音楽がSmashing Pumpkinsという90年代に大流行した有名グランジバンドの曲！私たちのほとんどが都会に閉じ込められてるかのように生活してるけど、外の世界は広くて魅力的でもある。時には、都会のセメント地獄から抜け出すのも楽しいはず。私も今は都会にいるけど、私の心にはしっかりとアメリカンガールがいるから、故郷を彷彿とさせるチェック柄や実用的なカジュアルウェアには注目してる。
